Sunflower Seeds

I had a short but wonderful Thanksgiving vacation in London last week and got a chance to check out a small part of “Sunflower Seeds” by Ai Weiwei at Tate Modern. The original sculpture consists of 100 million of hand-painted porcelain sunflower seeds that look identical but are actually unique. It took 1,600 people to manufacture these seeds in two and a half years. Ai Weiwei provokes thought on the “Made in China” phenomenon, the relationship between the rulers and citizens in China, and individuals vs. masses with this artwork.  Too bad I couldn’t see the original setup of this when you could walk on the seeds and pick them up. Apparently, the interaction of visitors with the sculpture creates a dust that can be a health risk and people have been stealing the seeds….

Versace for H&M Launch

The night I have been eagerly waiting for has finally arrived! The Versace for H&M launch at the 5th Avenue store was crazy as expected. The leather pieces were gone within the first 10 minutes but I managed to get all the pieces I wanted =) Also, they had impressive catering! The mini lobster rolls and the tiny burgers were delicious and the flying pretzel rack so New York!!! Here are some pictures of the event. I’ll show you what I got in my next post!
